Inclusion Alberta- Inclusion Alberta is a family-based, non-profit federation that advocates on behalf of children and adults with intellectual disabilities and their families. They work together with government and community organization to advocate for, support, and enable individuals and families to be included in community life. Inclusive Alberta also partners with about 20 institutions in Alberta to create Inclusive Post -Secondary Education to break down barriers for students with developmental disabilities pursuing higher education.
The Inclusive Education Library - Learn Alberta is a teaching and learning resource page, which also includes an extensive library of information about disabilities and medical conditions. Although the materials have been provided for those in teaching positions, the information available can help anyone to develop a better understanding of disabilities, how to build a more inclusive community, and how to better support individuals with disabilities or medical conditions.
Voice of Albertans with Disabilities (VAD Society) - A non profit organization that provides a voice for Albertans with disabilities. They have programs to support individuals with disabilities in the community, and their website also contains a large resource directory for awareness, accessibility, equity, and full participation to help educate and support individuals with living with disabilities in Alberta.
Alberta Council of Disability Services (ACDS) - ACDS is a non-profit association of Community Disability Services (CDS) sector organizations in Alberta. They help to advocate for individuals with disabilities in the community, and provide accreditation, training, and development for organization and individuals working in the CDS sectors.
CanLearn Society is a charity based out of Calgary. They create, use, and share knowledge to help bring awareness and break down barriers for people with disabilities. They offer a large collection of resources to help people develop their understanding about disabilities and challenging behaviors in order to better support the community.
Rick Hansen Foundation - This self-directed 1-hour course takes a person-centered approach to creating welcoming spaces for people with disabilities. Discover the profound importance of ensuring that people of all abilities can live, work, learn, and play independently, safely – and with dignity.
Access AT Canada - Government and charity programs that offer assistive technology funding and services in Canada. (Current as of 2020).
Tetra Society of North America - A non profit organization that provides volunteer engineers across Canada and the US to design and construct custom assistive devices for people with disabilities.
